10/6 Coleman-Beattie Reappointed to Board

Travis County Commissioners Court reappoint Brenda Coleman-Beattie to the Central Health Board of Managers 


The Travis County Commissioners Court reappointed Central Health Manager Brenda Coleman- Beattie to a full, four-year term on the Board of Managers on Tuesday, Oct. 5. Ms. Coleman-Beattie was selected by the Commissioners in 2009 to fulfill the unexpired term of Dr. Eduardo Sanchez.

Brenda Coleman-Beattie is the CEO and Principal Strategy Consultant with 2Thrive4, a strategy consulting company that provides services for private and public sector organizations and individuals.  Additionally, she is a behavioral health care consultant.  She also previously held the position of Assistant Chief Operating Officer with the Lower Colorado River Authority from 2001 until 2004, as well as several other executive management positions with organizations throughout the country.  
 
Ms. Coleman-Beattie maintains a distinctive record of public service. She has served on the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities as a gubernatorial appointee since 2002. She is presently the board’s chair, a role she has served since December 2008.  She previously held the position of chair of the Council’s project development committee from 2006 until 2008. Additionally, she serves as a member of the boards for the Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas, The Austin Project, the University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work Advisory Council and has been a member of the Zachary Scott Theatre Center Board for more than 10 years.  She has also served in leadership positions with the National Alliance on Mental Illness and the Central Texas African American Family Support Conference.  She received the New Milestones Foundation, a group supporting mental health, Champion Award in 2004.
 
Central Health is governed by a nine-member volunteer Board of Managers. Four of the members are appointed by the Austin City Council and four are appointed by the Travis County Commissioners Court. Both governmental bodies jointly appoint the ninth member. Reappointments and new appointments to the Board serve four-year terms.
