Need Health Coverage? We can help.

If you're uninsured and need health coverage, you've come to right web page. We can help you get access to local doctors, specialists, and pharmacies through MAP, our Medical Access Program.

To get benefits through MAP, you first need to apply. And you can start that process by following the steps below. Links to start your MAP application are at the bottom of the page.

Before you apply, be sure to check out the MAP eligibility requirements

Step 1

Gather The Documents You Will Need

First, you” need to gather some documents and information. These documents will help us determine if you’re eligible for MAP. They include:

  • proof that you live in Travis County
  • any proof of U.S. citizenship or residency for your household members
  • picture IDs for all adults in your household
  • proof you are the parent or legal guardian of all children in your household
  • proof of any other health care benefits for which you have been approved, been denied, or have a pending application
  • proof of your household’s income
  • some additional forms

For more information about the basic requirements and examples of these documents, click here.

Important: MAP and MAP BASIC are not federal programs therefore are not impacted by the Federal Government “Public Charge” regulation. All uninsured Travis County uninsured residents eligible for MAP and MAP BASIC should continue to enroll without fear of impacting their path to a green card.

Step 2

Start Your Application Process

You can apply for MAP coverage online or by calling 512-978-8130 – whichever is easiest for you. Either way, you can follow the process in English or Spanish. Before you do that, go ahead and finish reading about the application process in the remaining steps below.

Step 3

Follow Up

During your application, you may be asked to provide some additional information. Make sure you submit that info as requested.

Step 4

Check Your Mail

If your application is accepted, you’ll receive your personalized MAP card and handbook in the mail within a few weeks. You can immediately begin using your MAP coverage to get care. With your MAP identification card, you’ll also receive a MAP member handbook with instructions on how to start.

If you aren’t eligible for MAP, don’t worry. We’ll send you information on other health coverage programs.

Step 5

Stay Current!

You’ll see an expiration date in the corner of your MAP card. Set a reminder to renew your MAP card at least 30 days before that date.
