آستین، تگزاس — Central Health presented a third-quarter fiscal year 2026 update to the Travis County Commissioners Court on May 14, reporting continued growth in patients served, expanded health care coverage, and measurable progress in system integration.
The update reflects ongoing progress under Central Health’s “Year of Access” initiative, focused on delivering timely, coordinated care for Travis County residents with low income.
“Our Year of Access is about making care easier to reach and easier to navigate for the people we serve,” said Dr. Pat Lee, president and CEO of Central Health. “The progress we shared with the Commissioners Court shows real momentum across our system—and our growing ability to track that progress more clearly helps us understand what’s working, where gaps remain, and how we can continue improving. As we expand access to care, we are building the connected, coordinated public health system Travis County deserves.”

Central Health served 183,969 patients in fiscal year 2025, a 7.3% increase over the prior year and 25% growth since 2021. Enrollment in the Central Health Medical Access Program (MAP), which provides coverage for Central Health members with low income, grew 6.7% over the past year, reaching 62,587 enrollees, a 34% increase since 2021.
Sendero Health Plans, the Central Health system’s nonprofit health insurance plan, reported a 35% overall membership growth over the past year, reaching 38,387 members.
The system also reported nearly 3% growth in patients covered by Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP, and commercial insurance served at CommUnityCare Health Centers clinics—an increase of about 5,000 patients. All of this data was first presented in Central Health’s 2025 Annual Report.
“At a time when we’re hearing more and more news about federal funding being cut for Medicaid and for all kinds of services and programs, you are expanding access through MAP (Medical Access Program) and increasing the number of patients you’re serving,” said Commissioner Brigid Shea. “I just think that’s remarkable and should be celebrated because that means more people in our community have access to health care and health insurance.”
Integrating the System
The system also updated commissioners on progress in strengthening coordination across Central Health, CommUnityCare Health Centers, and Sendero Health Plans. The system has completed initial integration goals in five focus areas:
- Health care for people experiencing homelessness
- Electronic health records
- داروخانه
- Addiction medicine
- Eligibility and enrollment
Integration work is also advancing in areas including provider credentialing, ambulatory specialty care, transportation, and revenue cycle management.
Introducing Sendero Health Solutions
Central Health and Sendero Health Plans also announced the formation of Sendero Health Solutions, Inc., a new entity that will offer services as a Credentialing Verification Organization and Third-Party Administrator. The new entity is designed to reduce administrative burdens for health care providers and health plans, and to support self-insured employers with benefits administration.
