Judge sides with House Republicans against health care law

In a setback for the Obama health care law, a federal judge ruled Thursday that the administration is unconstitutionally subsidizing medical bills for millions of people.
The ruling is a win for House Republicans trying to undermine the law, and if upheld, it could disturb the insurance marketplace we know.


Income divides ease in Austin, but still higher than most large metros

Recent findings show that the level of income segregation in the Austin area has improved slightly in recent years despite an opposite trend seen across other large metro areas, but unfortunately, Austin still remains one of the most economically segregated in the country. A drop in the concentration of affluent families in affluent Austin neighborhoods may be responsible for the narrowing of the divide.

Health research has shown that Black Americans die at higher rates than whites from most causes, but recent federal data shows that suicide rates, infant mortality, and teenage births, which tend to cause higher infant mortality rates, have all dropped significantly.
