Central Health Receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

March 25, 2022

GFOA Recognizes Central Health for Third Straight Year

(Austin) — Central Health is proud to announce it has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal year 2022 budget (Oct. 1, 2021 – Sept. 30, 2022) from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

The award represents a significant achievement by Central Health, as it reflects the commitment of the Board of Managers and staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. This is the third consecutive year Central Health has submitted its budget and been recognized with this award from GFOA.

In order to receive the budget award, Central Health had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as:

  • a policy document;
  • a financial plan;
  • an operations guide; and
  • a communications device.

Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.

There are more than 1,700 participants in the GFOA Budget Awards Program. The most recent recipients, along with their corresponding budget documents, are posted quarterly on the GFOA’s website at www.gfoa.org/budget-award-winners. Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America.
