U.S. Supreme Court rules in favor of Obama, Affordable Care Act

Posted: June 25th, 2015

By Tim Eaton, The Wall Street Journal

In a 6-3 Supreme Court ruling, Obamacare subsidies will be upheld, meaning more than 800,000 Texans will keep the tax credits they use to pay for health insurance, along with millions of low-and middle-income Americans nationwide. This marks the second major victory for the Affordable Care Act in three years of politically charged Supreme Court tests of the law.

As Austin Musicians Struggle to Make Ends Meet, Many Forego Health Insurance

Posted: June 24th, 2015, KUT

This is leading many to worry about the future of the Live Music Capitol of the World.

Texas lags behind the national average in rate of uninsured adults

Posted: June 23rd, 2015

By Tim Eaton, American-Statesman Staff

Even though it’s been more than a year since the Affordable Care Act was passed, Texas continues to lead the nation in its rate of uninsured residents. The rate of uninsured Texans between the ages of 18 to 64 has fallen from 2.7 percent to 25.7 percent, more than what’s being seen with the rest of the nation.
