Dr. Nicholas Yagoda serves as the Executive Vice President of Ambulatory Services at Central Health as well as the Chief Executive Officer of CommUnityCare Health Centers. A family medicine physician with expertise in HIV and addiction medicine, he brings more than a decade of experience in clinical care and community health leadership to the Central Health system. He focuses on advancing health equity through collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
Since joining CommUnityCare in 2014, Dr. Yagoda has remained committed to improving access to high-quality, compassionate care for underserved communities. He played a key role in launching the region’s first treatment program for opioid use disorder and helped establish the Fast Track Cities/Getting to Zero Task Force to reduce new HIV infections in Travis County. Dr. Yagoda has helped guide several major initiatives, including the implementation of the Epic electronic health record, a comprehensive response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and efforts to strengthen workforce engagement and clinical performance. Under his leadership, CommUnityCare has been recognized as a USA Today National Top Workplace and ranks among the top 20% of FQHCs nationwide in clinical quality outcomes.
Dr. Yagoda earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed his residency at the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency in Massachusetts, a program based in a community health center setting. In addition to his work with the Central Health system, Dr. Yagoda also serves as an Assistant Professor of Population Health at The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School. His research and commentary have appeared in publications including Annals of Family Medicine, The Journal of Family Practice, and Nature.
