Surgeon General Murthy to Austin: Try a little tenderness

In a recent visit to Austin, U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy offered a simple solution to how people can live healthier lives: Walk. Be kind. Instead of seeing exercise and eating healthy as a chore, we can work to find ways of making it fun and preferred. Adults can also lead by example in the way they treat others, helping to establish a culture of kindness with importance put on emotional well-being.


 

Mellie Price Wants to Bring All Kinds of Startup Innovations to the Dell Medical School

As Austin is already packed with startups creating new solutions to the problems we all face, Mellie is now tasked with finding those most beneficial to the aims of the new medical school, and responding quickly without losing them to a long process.


 

In Texas, Uneven Expansion Of Obamacare Sows Frustration (AUDIO)

A new study shows that Texans are significantly more likely than adults nationwide to report difficulty seeing a doctor in the past two years. Almost 1 in 5 people in Texas say it’s gotten harder to see a doctor, and an uneven expansion of Obamacare within the state may be to blame.

Notice: The Travis County Healthcare District d/b/a Central Health adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year’s tax rate. The tax rate will effectively be raised by 6.0 percent and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $5.47 (five dollars and forty-seven cents).
