Dell Seton Medical Center still on track for May 2017

Work on the downtown, $295 million Dell Seton Medical Center is on schedule and on budget, thanks to advanced planning. In 19 months, Austin will no longer be the largest city in America without a teaching hospital.


Central Health reveals plans for Brackenridge

Central Health held two open houses Oct. 26, showcasing plans for the Brackenridge campus, a redevelopment of the old Brackenridge hospital and surrounding area into a hub of healthy activity. This will include a pedestrian market in the center of the campus with food vendors and retail space.


 

Cooper: Obesity rates will decline – if Texas makes the investment

In a special to the American-Statesman, Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper argues that a recent UT study claiming that a program funded by Texas Legislature failed to reduce obesity rates is premature in its conclusion. Properly funding quality physical education will surely produce favorable results.

Notice: The Travis County Healthcare District d/b/a Central Health adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year’s tax rate. The tax rate will effectively be raised by 6.0 percent and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $6.18 (six dollars and eighteen cents).
