Central Health-affiliated CommUnityCare Health Centers Providing Flu Vaccines to Travis County Residents Who Are Uninsured

(Austin) – Central Health-affiliated CommUnityCare Health Centers is now offering drive-through flu vaccines at two of its COVID-19 testing locations for those who are 9 years of age and older.

Flu vaccines are specifically for non-CommUnityCare patients who do not have health insurance. “It is critical that we all get vaccinated to reduce the likelihood of becoming infected with the virus before peak flu season starts,” CommUnityCare Chief Operating Officer Yvonne Camerana, RN, said. “Flu season typically runs from September through late spring, so this is the time to get your vaccination.”

Flu vaccines are recommended for everyone six months and older especially those who fall in to high-risk categories, such as:

  • Adults over 65
  • Pregnant women
  • People with chronic medical conditions
  • Health care workers

Uninsured Travis County Residents can get a flu shot Monday – Saturday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 .pm. at the following locations:

CommUnityCare Walk-in Health Center (shots are offered outside in the clinic parking lot)

No appointment is needed and community members do not have to leave their car to receive the flu shot. CommUnityCare continues to encourage all of its patients to get a flu shot by calling its Patient Navigation Center at 512-978-9015 to make an appointment.

Notice: The Travis County Healthcare District d/b/a Central Health adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year’s tax rate. The tax rate will effectively be raised by 6.0 percent and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $6.18 (six dollars and eighteen cents).
