New Central Health Board of Managers Officers Named for 2022

December 20, 2021

Following the recommendation of the Central Health Nominations Subcommittee, the Board of Managers voted to name as officers for 2022: Chairperson Dr. Charles Bell, Vice-Chairperson Dr. Cynthia Brinson, and Treasurer Dr. Julie Zuniga. The board of managers also appointed Cynthia Valadez secretary.

Dr. Bell has served on the board of managers since 2016, appointed to the all-volunteer body by the City of Austin. He was recently reappointed to a second four-year term. He previously served as board of managers vice-chair. Charles E. Bell, M.D, M.S. is currently semi-retired and works part-time with Texas A&M Health Science Center as a medical advisor of the KSTAR physician assessment program and as a part-time medical director for LeFleur Transportation.

Dr. Brinson has served on the board since 2020, a City of Austin appointee. This is her first time serving as a board of managers officer. Dr. Brinson is a private physician at Red River Family Practice and has also been the Medical Director of Central Texas Clinical Research, LLC since 1999.

Dr. Zuniga resumes her role as board of managers treasurer, to which she was appointed in 2021. She has served on the board since 2019, appointed by the City of Austin. Julie Zuniga is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin.

Manager Valadez also resumes her previous role as secretary. The Travis County Commissioners Court appointed her to the board of managers in 2015. Cynthia Valadez is a consultant and health care advocate for Travis and Williamson Counties.

The Central Health Board of Managers is an all-volunteer board composed of four appointees from the Austin City Council, four appointees from the Travis County Commissioners Court, and one joint appointee. Board members are appointed to four-year terms. Full biographies of each of the nine members of the Board of Managers are found at www.centralhealth.net/about/board-of-managers.
