Central Health Welcomes Sedora Jefferson
Central Health also announced the appointment of Sedora Jefferson to the Board of Managers. Jefferson previously served on the CommUnityCare Health Centers Board of Directors, where she worked closely with Central Health leadership and system partners. Her first Central Health board meeting is scheduled for January.
Jefferson brings more than two decades of executive-level legal and public service experience. Since 2003, she has served as chief corporate counsel and associate executive director of the Texas Association of School Boards, where she provides legal guidance to association leadership and staff. Prior to joining the association, Jefferson held senior legal counsel roles in both state and local government.
Honoring Shannon Jones’ Eight Years of Service
As part of these leadership transitions, Shannon Jones, M.P.A., will conclude his service on the Board of Managers on Dec. 31, completing an eight-year tenure marked by advocacy, community engagement, and expanded access to care in underserved areas of Travis County.
Appointed in 2017 and reappointed in 2021, Jones brought decades of public health experience to the board, including prior service as director of Austin Public Health, where he helped lead the department to national public health accreditation.
During his time on the board, Jones was a strong advocate for communities of color and played a key role in strengthening partnerships with organizations such as the Black Men’s Health Clinic and the Black Leaders Collective. He also supported major infrastructure investments, including the Hornsby Bend and Del Valle Health & Wellness Centers, expanding access to care in Eastern Travis County.
“Manager Jones’ leadership has shaped Central Health in ways that will be felt for years,” said Dr. Pat Lee, president and CEO of Central Health. “His commitment to equity, public service, and community voice helped move our organization forward, and we are deeply grateful for his eight years of service.”
