Central Health Hosts Public Community Conversation on Proposed 2021 Budget and Tax Rate

August 28, 2020

(Austin, Texas) – Central Health will host a virtual Community Conversation on the proposed fiscal year 2021 budget and tax rate at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 31.

The Central Health Board of Managers on Aug. 26 approved a proposed property tax rate of no more than 11.0306 cents per $100 of taxable property value for the upcoming 2021 fiscal year. The revenue generated by the tax rate will support further expansion of services throughout Travis County. Travis County residents’ tax dollars fund health care for more than one in eight residents who have low income or are uninsured. Central Health dedicates 96% of its budget to health care delivery, including clinical services and health care coverage, and the FY 2021 tax rate will support a $20 million increase in funding for health care over 2020.

Public input is a vital component of approving the annual budget and tax rate. Central Health will also host a public input session on the budget and tax rate on Sept. 2, followed by a public hearing on Sept. 9. Members of the public will be able to address the board at both. The Central Health Board of Managers will then vote on adopting the proposed budget and tax rate, followed by the Travis County Commissioners Court.

For more information about the public hearings and how to participate, visit www.centralhealth.net/fy21-budget.
