Central Health receives clean financial audit for Fiscal Year 2020

January 28, 2021

(Austin) – Maxwell Locke & Ritter, a local, independent, Austin-based accounting firm, issued an unmodified, or “clean” opinion on Central Health’s audited financial statements for Fiscal Year 2020. This means Central Health’s financial audit has reported no findings or weaknesses with their financial practices, reflecting the high level of financial reporting Central Health provides to the public.

An unmodified opinion is the best opinion that can be received on audited financial statements and is the highest level of assurance available. In addition, no instances of material weaknesses over internal controls and no reportable instances of non-compliance required to be reported under governmental auditing standards were reported.

“A clean audit starts on the first day of the fiscal year. It’s a 365-day endeavor to ensure our controls are being followed and our reports we present to the Board and public are accurate.  Each day we focus on being good stewards of the tax dollars we’re entrusted with,” Central Health President & CEO Mike Geeslin said.

Maxwell Locke & Ritter began the two and a half month audit following the conclusion of the fiscal year on Sept. 30, 2020. The Central Health financial statements also include discretely presented component units – CommUnityCare, Sendero Health Plans, and the Community Care Collaborative. A separate audit for each component unit was conducted independent of the Central Health audit.

The financial statements and accompanying audit report were prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and government auditing standards. The report is a culmination of examining processes and internal controls related to financial reporting and the final audited financial statements prepared by Central Health.
