For Aquiel, Care Means Turning Purpose Into Impact

July 29, 2025

Aquiel swapped stars for stethoscopes to better care for her community

Aquiel Warner grew up in Pflugerville dreaming of becoming an astrophysicist. And she had the passion and work ethic to follow that dream all the way to Yale.

However, her time there made her realize her dream job, in her words, wasn’t “going to translate into more direct and tangible benefits for a community.” She realized she wanted to make a different kind of impact with her career.

Aquiel graduated from Yale in 2016 and started helping people

After gaining experience helping populations in need, Aquiel decided to return to Travis County to study medicine at Dell Medical School. Her goal is to specialize in family medicine and psychiatry to one day work with underserved communities in Central Texas.

Aquiel’s choice to study at Dell Medical School was no accident

Dell Med is a perfect place for students like Aquiel. With the support of their partnership with Central Health, Dell Med aims to produce doctors focused on public service, community-based care, and systemic change. Aquiel shows promise to be one of those doctors one day soon.

Aquiel’s passion is now guiding her in a new direction

With the help of Dell Medical School’s training, resources, and values, Aquiel’s care for her community and drive to learn have the potential to change Travis County’s health system into one that can, in her words, “meet people where they’re at.”

Aquiel isn’t an astrophysicist. She’s following a new dream—a dream she’s capable of making a reality.
