Welcome to the Philanthropic committee!
Quote from Dan Rosino, Web Services Specialist on April 22, 2025, 1:09 pmWelcome to the Philanthropic committee!
Our first meeting will be held Wednesday, April 23, at 2:30pm in front of other Board of Mangers meetings.
We will be working in concert with staff in guiding the process for the drafting of a development plan to be reviewed and moved forward to the Board for adoption. To some extent, the Development Plan will compliment a strategic business plan which will outline how we pursue grant dollars and philanthropic money from large private donors. The development plan should parallel our Capital Investment Plan.
Ultimately a detailed crafted Development Plan will guide fundraising and should address staff structure, in-house or separate foundation, messaging, target amounts, entities/people and purpose, collaboration with nonprofits for money. In this plan we should address how we will not duplicate services within the Austin community but rather augment and shore up medical services and supports for our population lacking available services in their treatment plans.
A related need will be the development of a Community Cancer Profile to assist in determining our role in enhancing cancer care for our population. This may be our first step in our grant requests.
This committee will be tasked with the review of grant proposals and submissions and approval to move preproposals to the board via the consent agenda.
Our first meeting will be organizational in nature. Come prepared to share your ideas on what you would like to receive to assist you in realizing the purpose of the committee as described above. For the first meeting, staff will share what work has been completed to get us to this point. Further the committee will discuss timelines and process.
Please let me know what if anything you would like to add as we move into this line of work. Thank you for being a part of this exciting and evolving committee.
With Thanks,
Eliza May
