CommUnityCare Announces Changes to COVID-19 Drive-up/Walk-up Testing Hours; Adds Saturday Testing for Southeast Travis County

October 12, 2020

(Austin) – Effective Monday, Oct. 12, Central Health-affiliated CommUnityCare (CUC) Health Centers is shifting COVID-19 testing hours at all drive-up locations and will begin offering Saturday testing at a second location.

Hours of operations for all CUC drive-up/walk-up testing sites are shifting to 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Previously, testing hours were 6:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

As previously announced, testing at Hornsby-Dunlap Elementary moved to the Hornsby Health Center effective Oct. 12. Unlike the drive-up testing sites, a COVID-19 test at the Hornsby Bend Health Center, 14312 Hunters Bend Road, requires a scheduled arrival time for COVID-19 tests. The health center is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Residents should call 512-978-8090 to schedule a COVID-19 test.

“CommUnityCare wants to make COVID-19 testing as easy as possible for our patients,” CommUnityCare Chief Operating Officer Yvonne Camarena said. “Since March, CommUnityCare has provided nearly 30,000 COVID-19 tests to community members, including people who don’t have insurance or a doctor. We’re adding Saturday hours at our Burleson Road testing site to give people in Southeast Travis County more testing opportunities.”

Beginning Saturday, Oct. 17, CUC’s Burleson Road testing site, 7019 Burleson Road Building 1, will be open Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., while CUC’s Hancock Center testing site, 1000 East 41st St., continues offering Saturday testing, as it has since March.

CommUnityCare offers testing to anyone who needs one and who is uninsured. For CUC patients, after hours testing is available Monday through Friday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the walk-in clinics at the Hancock Health Center and the Southeast Health & Wellness Center, 2901 Montopolis Drive. CUC patients can also contact their doctor for an appointment at their clinic.

For more information about testing, call 512-978-8775.
