Meet the Speakers

Pull up a seat! This year’s speakers are bringing more than slides: warmth, humor, and real talk about the health topics that matter most to our families. No judgment, no jargon, just tools you can use after the health expo.

Liliana Beverido

Volver a Ti: Sanar sin Culpa (Returning to Yourself: Healing Without Guilt) | 12:35 p.m.

We pour so much of ourselves into caring for everyone else. Liliana’s keynote invites you to come back to yourself—a reminder that choosing yourself isn’t selfish; it’s healing. Come ready to breathe, reflect, and remember that taking care of you starts with one simple decision: to stop abandoning yourself.

Liliana Beverido is a speaker, author, mindfulness instructor, and life coach based right here in Austin, currently pursuing a master’s in clinical mental health counseling. For more than 20 years, she’s brought her warmth and wisdom to workshops and community programs across Central Texas, inspiring especially women and the Hispanic community to build resilience, self-love, and lasting well-being.

Session 1: La Ciencia de la Nutrición (The Science of Nutrition) | 10:20 a.m.

Take control with confidence. This lively, hands-on session hands you the ultimate nutrition toolkit—demystifying metabolism, simplifying portion sizes with the proven plate method, and turning confusing food labels into your secret weapon. Come discover how to nourish your body with the foods you love and build a lifestyle that feels good.

Ruben Pizarro is a health professional and community advocate with a background in general medicine and a specialty in rehabilitation and sports medicine. He currently serves as a health services navigator and patient advocate with Caritas of Austin, supporting veterans and their families, and brings decades of experience as a university professor, certified community health worker instructor, and Spanish-language medical interpreter.

Session 2: Mueve, Conecta y Sana (Move, Connect, and Heal) | 11:10 a.m.

Turn your wellness journey into a community celebration. Real health lives in the connections we build together—and this session proves it. Move your body, strengthen your heart, and feel the joy of doing it alongside your community. Nourish your body with movement, and your heart with belonging.

Danitza Verdugo is a certified Zumba instructor with more than 14 years of experience and a beloved Central Health partner for nearly a decade, teaching free classes that bring the community together. She’s also a community leader, speaker, wellness coach, and co-founder of TASL, a family development firm connecting families with local schools in their own language.

Session 3: Tu Cuerpo Lleva la Cuenta (Your Body Keeps the Score) | 1:22 p.m.

Your body remembers everything your mind carries. When stress and unspoken emotions build up, they show up as tension, fatigue, and imbalance—and this session invites you to listen, heal, and give your body the peace it deserves. Walk away with three powerful tools: intentional breathing, the healing power of forgiveness, and mindful eating.

Margarita Foss is a Latina immigrant, mother, and certified emotional wellness coach who turned her own story into a mission of empowerment for others. She holds certifications in life coaching, neuro-linguistic programming, and emotional management, and is the author of Que Te Valga Madre el Pasado and co-host of The Empowered Latina Podcast, celebrated for her impact on communities across and beyond Texas.
